Wess did start working at Starbucks and is loving it. He has met some sweet people... some co-workers and customers. He met Buck, this one guy who has a ministry called Skate Church which ministers to skate kids and those who in the winter snowboard/ski... Wess and I would like to be a part of Skate Church. We went to a concert at Howelson Park (skate park) that Skate Church hosted with Christian bands so I was able to meet Buck. I (Lauren) started working at The Village at Steamboat (a Wyndham Resort) on July 17th. It has been an interesting job, but such a blessing. I am working 40 hours a week in the Laundry Department folding laundry and working with industrial washers and dryers. I work with just me, myself, and I typically and then the other times with women who don't speak much english -- habla espanol :) I really want to learn some spanish or at least get better at what spanish I do know. It is hard sometimes not being able to converse with anyone I work with, but I really have a heart to minister to a couple of co-workers -- my boss and her assistant, Betsy and Anna (both speak english). If you could pray for me and how to go about that it would be very much appreciated.
Wess and I moved into our new place on July 6th. We really hate moving and hope to stay at this apartment for at least a year (because of our lease) or more -- we love it. It is small, but perfect for the two of us. we have no room for junk, just things we need :) Today we put pictures on the walls and placed our furniture where we wanted it. I took some pictures of the place but forgot to transfer them from camera to computer... so next time we will have some pictures up. It has been fun to grocery shop and cook dinners (mom, I know you never thought I would be able to cook, but I CAN COOK :). I am learning to cook and everything thus far has turned out pretty good. OH! and we opened all our stuff that we got at our wedding and are so thankful for the blender, toaster, microwave, dishes, forman grill, pizza stone, and all the other stuff :) It was fun to open it all and now use it finally after about 7 months of not using it...
Steamboat Springs is a great place to live. It is totally a beach town without the beach (i think I mentioned that before)... A while ago we went inner tubing down the river -- HAHA! it was fun and for me a little scary at first. We have been longboarding (skateboards, not surfboards) around town and the other day around the apartment complex I fell and scraped up my foot pretty bad -- it was actually really funny - like a slow motion fall. Wess has fallen a couple times... a couple weeks ago he fell because this dog came running after him and he didn't want to hit it - so the best thing to do was to fall... it was funny as well, but his knee got beat up :( Wess takes the Free Bus around town quite a bit - a great opportunity to witness to people, but nothing has come up yet. There is so much opportunity around here to witness because people come here from all over. We were at Mc Donald's the other day and the cashier was from Ukraine. It is such an interesting place that we have fallen in love with and a place we hope to give God's love to.
Our home church is going well and right now we are praying for guidance on how to transition from the PodCast to Wess teaching. We are praying for wisdom not only in that area, but for Wess as he is willing to teach the Word of God. I am praying for God's wisdom just in general on how to give the Gospel to people. It is actually so simple, but makes me nervous. Everyone needs Jesus and they need Him now because He is coming quickly. There is such an urgency now more that an ever to give the Gospel to people. Please keep us in your prayers. We would like to encourage you to do the same where you are at -- give the best gift anyone could ever receive - it doesn't have to be on a holiday, but any time - THE GOSPEL.
We also encourage you to come visit or come evangelize in Steamboat Springs, CO.
love you all!
